Kat has eleven years’ experience teaching Physics, Science, and STEM across various socioeconomic areas of Scotland. She earned her Physics degree from the University of St Andrews and completed her PGDE at Moray House, University of Edinburgh. Her teaching journey included positions on the Isle of Lewis, in Aberdeen, and in the Central Belt, experiencing both state-funded and private schools.

As a keynote speaker, Kat regularly returns to the University of St Andrews for the “Communicating and Teaching Science” module, emphasising the importance of equity in education. She also speaks at Moray House, sharing her teaching experiences with student teachers.

Kat is a member of the Institute of Physics (IoP) and serves on the Institute of Physics Scotland committee. She volunteers as the IOPS Girls into Physics and Engineering Coordinator, organising workshops for girls from various schools. In this role, she supports volunteers, facilitates events, delivers inspirational talks, and creates STEM activities.

At EqualEngineers, Kat is the Education Coordinator. She will be part of the Engagement Team, designing and delivering secondary school workshops in Scotland. Her passion for STEM outreach and engagement began during her undergraduate studies and continued throughout her teaching career, including running programmes like the CREST Awards and the SSERC Young STEM Leader programme. Kat will provide training in outreach programmes, deliver school events, offer expertise in youth education, and work directly with clients in Scotland.
