Dr Stewart Eyres, MInstP, FRAS, FHEA

Education & Training Manager

Stewart worked in universities for over 30 years, between 2009 and 2023 leading academic departments delivering education and research across STEM disciplines. He gained a MSc  and PhD in Radio Astronomy from the University of Manchester, and continues to chair the UK Research & Innovation committee overseeing the UK’s National Facility for Radio Astronomy. This engagement with students and how they are educated is a key element of our strategy to make engineering & technology more diverse, equitable and inclusive. It goes beyond that into developing inclusive research cultures, shaping how research takes place as well as what research questions engineering academics decide to tackle.

Alongside training this extends to consultancy on factors such as meeting Engineering Council expectations on inclusive professional practice, inclusive culture expectations attached to UK Research & Innovation funding and the reframing of excellence to be more inclusive within the Research Excellence Framework.
