To mark International Women’s Day, we hosted a webinar exploring the power of storytelling in engineering and how sharing real experiences can help build confidence, belonging, and opportunity for women in the sector. Hosted by Kat Culyer and Fayon Dixon, the session invited participants to reflect on the theme of “give to gain” by sharing advice, lessons learned, and moments that shaped their careers. Guest speaker Sara Maggs Hunter, a Product Safety and Reliability Engineer at Thales, shared a powerful early-career story about challenging unsafe practices and the courage it takes to speak up. Together with contributions from attendees, the conversation highlighted how everyday stories, about support, resilience, and advocacy, can inspire others and help create a more inclusive engineering community.
