EqualEngineers On Stage and In Print

It’s been an inspiring few months for the EqualEngineers team, with two TEDx talks and a bestselling book shining a spotlight on the power of engineering inclusion.

EqualEngineers’ Operations Manager, Poggy Murray Whitham, delivered their TEDx Talk this summer, Engineering Equity with Automation, now available to watch online. In the talk, Poggy explores how principles of systems thinking in engineering can be applied to building more equitable and inclusive workplaces; a message that has resonated deeply across technical and professional audiences.

Just last week, Poggy also launched their debut book, Inclusion Moments, which reached #1 Best Seller on Amazon in multiple categories for Diversity & Inclusion and LGBTQ+ books on its very first day of release.

The book collects short reflections drawn from Poggy’s lived experiences in engineering and beyond, capturing the small but powerful moments that make people feel seen, valued, and respected. From challenging bias to celebrating allyship, Inclusion Moments reminds readers that meaningful change often begins with everyday actions.

“We know more about our technical assets than we do about the people who work with us,” Poggy reflected. “A key message of Inclusion Moments is that inclusion isn’t always about grand gestures. Sometimes, it begins in the smallest of moments.”

Poggy’s achievements come during a standout year: they were named one of the UK’s Top 100 Manufacturing Professionals by The Manufacturer, shortlisted as a finalist for being a Positive LGBT Role Model at the National Diversity Awards, and featured across regional and national media, including BBC Radio Shropshire.

Meanwhile, EqualEngineers’ Founder and CEO Dr Mark McBride-Wright MBE has also taken to the TEDx stage with his upcoming talk, SAFE to Speak: Why Men’s Stories Matter. Building on the impact of the Masculinity in Engineering longitudinal research and the SAFE Leader training programme, Mark’s talk explores how psychological safety and open conversations amongst men can transform workplace culture, improve wellbeing, and prevent isolation.

Set for release soon, the talk promises to continue Mark’s mission of humanising engineering through empathy, inclusion, and connection.

Together, Mark and Poggy exemplify EqualEngineers’ mission to make safety and inclusion inseparable, creating a more inclusive culture within the sector by amplifying diverse voices and sharing authentic stories.

  • Inclusion Moments is available here in paperback and eBook, with audiobook and hardback editions coming soon.
  • Stay tuned for the release of Mark’s TEDx Talk.
